Computing

Whilst studying computing at Anns Grove, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and vocabulary required to become competent, confident and curious users of a range of devices and programmes.

The school’s curriculum is sequenced so that pupils’ learning gradually builds over time in a number of different areas with regular opportunities to revisit and secure key knowledge and skills.

Computing lessons are inclusive and ambitious with differentiation and scaffolding included to ensure that all pupils, irrespective of ability, are both challenged and supported.

A range of pedagogical strategies are included with regular opportunities for hands-on activities to ensure that lessons are engaging and move at pace. In addition to units of work on programming, creating media, understanding networks and processing data, pupils are regularly taught about how to stay safe online.

Online safety is taught in an age-appropriate manner and lessons are constantly updated to reflect developments in the world of computing.
