Design Technology

Whilst studying Design Technology (DT) at Anns Grove, pupils become confident in designing, building and evaluating a range of products created for a variety of purposes.

The school’s curriculum is sequenced so that from the start of their time at school, pupils become familiar with the design cycle and the steps of analysing, designing, building, testing and evaluating.

As they progress through the school, pupils acquire increasingly complex skills and become confident in using a broad range of tools and materials.

DT lessons are engaging, inclusive of all abilities and encourage children to discuss and debate their ideas. They are also rich with subject-specific vocabulary which pupils are taught to use confidently and correctly.

Pupils are encouraged to explore and experiment as they progress through a project with multiple opportunities for testing and refining ideas.

Pupils expand their cultural capital through exciting trips and working alongside professionals who visit the school to run workshops and activities.
